The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

I recently had an encounter with two fine young men who were Elders from this church.  They were taught, but with all teachings, who teaches them is responsible for the accuracy of their interpretation.  That is why we must all read then Bible and interpret for ourselves (and in some cases you may seek outside help for greater understanding, but God who gives wisdom will give you the wisdom to know the truth, or when the truth is being twisted).

I quoted Revelation 22:18-19  For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

One of the two with which I was speaking said that the Bible should have ended in Deuteronomy, when God said the same thing.

So I looked up Deuteronomy 4:2  You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.

Deuteronomy 4:2 specifically says shall not add to the Word, nor take from it, but each is followed by "which I command you".  The Lord God was not done making commands in Deuteronomy.  The Bible was not finished until Revelation was completed in the Bible, which were all God's commands.

God put verses 18, 19 in Revelation, because He knew false profits would come and make claims to lead people away from the one, true God's teachings. Revelation is the end to God's teachings and verse 18 and 19 seal the Book and were meant to prevent someone like John Smith from misleading people and corrupting God's teachings.  The problem was and still is that people are willing to follow a good snake oil salesman, rather than reading the Word of God for themselves.  It's true for Catholics too, they are following a corrupted faith, not adhering to the Word of God.  (Exodus 20, the Ten Commandments, baptizing babies- never occurred in the Bible, only when a person has a change of heart and believes in Jesus, who came from God, Catholics pray to Mary- who was a bondservant and of flesh like all others, Catholics bow to the Pope and statues in their church which neither are holy, only God is holy.  (See Catholic, for more)

It's clear when you read these two verses, and all the Bible in between, there is truth in God's Word that is unwavering and when not twisted, stands firm.

There is only one religion, that is the commands in the Bible.  If you are outside of that, there is great potential to be and probably are corrupted in your faith.  Don't take my word for it, read the Bible.

Galatians 1:8,9  But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be under a curse! As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be under a curse!

Deuteronomy 4:2

You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.

Deuteronomy 4:2

Revelation 22:18,19

For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Revelation 22:18,19

Galatians 1:8,9

But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
